YOUTH OF THE YEAR

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION
as Kid (elementary) or Youth (middle school) of the Month

Positive Attitude
Active engagement at The Club
Positive relationships with peers & staff

The Kid of the Year and Youth of the Year from each Club participate in a thorough application and selection process.   All the monthly honorees and their parents are invited to an awards breakfast with about 175 people where community members come to honor them.  Below are this year's honorees:

“Youth of the Year”

Faith Spino aka “bug,” is 10 years old. She has attended Boys & Girls Club for 2 years. Faith likes Art, Knitting Club, and Girls on the Run. Faith also enjoys playing games in the game room with Miss Natalie. Her favorite subject in school is English. If Faith could live anywhere in the world, it would be in New Zealand or Australia. Faith’s favorite saying is, “live for today!” Her biggest pet peeve is a messy room! “When I grow up, I want to be an author or a pediatrician.”

Buena Vista Kid of the Year

Ruby Skubella is a 5th grader and has been a member of The Club for over a year.  Ruby likes to participate in Tech Club and River Watch.   Outside of The Club, Ruby enjoys math and PE in school.  She is also part of student government for Avery Parsons Elementary.  Ruby is interested in the Twilight series and even got to see New Moon.

Salida Kid of the Year

Jackson Law is a seven-year old who has attended The Club for one year,. He brings a smile to all staff and Club members.  He is a real family guy who loves to travel and play golf.  Jackson really enjoyed watching the winter Olympics with his family. When Jackson grows up he wants to be a “rockologist,” discovering new and unfound rocks.
