Jennifer Wood - Branch Director

I started my journey at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Chaffee County back in 2006 and have seen it grow and expand every year. Our Club encourages youth to become productive, positive members of the community. I love the program because it allows us to help and inspire kids from a variety of backgrounds. In the near future I hope to expand our Junior Staff program to get more 6th-12th graders into the program.

Sue Lathrop – Front Desk

The Boys and Girls Clubs expose kids to opportunities they may otherwise never experience. I’m glad to be with the Club because it has set up a safe place for kids to be themselves. It’s as much fun as living on a boat for 12 years with a husband, three kids, one dog, two cats and a fish, which means I love it here!

Reba Jackson – Program Director

I believe in the Boys and Girls Clubs because I believe alternative education, safe spaces and positive adult influences are crucial for the development of youth. I appreciate the way the Club tries to meet the needs of the community by providing resources for Club families, participating in community events and helping kids develop skills necessary to be positive, contributing members of the community. When I retire, I plan to open an animal sanctuary where people can adopt pets and afterwards children can play with them and learn from the animals.

Judge Mueller – Program Coordinator

My family has been in this area for 75 years. I attended the Buena Vista Boys and Girls Club for a couple of years, and now my little brother, who’s nine, is a member here, so that’s fun. When I was a child, the Club changed my life. It gave me a sense of leadership and responsibility that I wasn’t getting at home, as well as the opportunity to meet new kids.

Dave Kasper – Program Assistant

The Boys and Girls Clubs offers me a new challenge. Having previously worked with college students, I wanted to find open minds. I like the fact that the Club provides a friendly and safe environment for camaraderie.
